Abstract: This paper is devoted to redundancy allocation in series (parallel) systems subject to random shocks. The non-homogeneous Poisson process is used to describe the shock process, and redundant series (parallel) system reliability is given. The majorization order allows for stochastic comparison between random lifetimes of systems under two redundancy allocation policies. Then, the redundancy allocation policy for maximizing (minimizing) the series (parallel) system reliability is presented. Finally, the effect of the number of subsystems on system reliability is analyzed.
